Evangelism, Class 2: God's Sovereignty & Our Responsibility

April 10, 2022 Speaker: Philip Boudreaux Series: Evangelism

I. God's Sovereignty in Salvation

     1. God foreknows those He chooses to give the gift of salvation. (Jeremiah 1:5; 2 Timothy 2:19; 1 Peter 1:1-2, 20; Acts 2:23; Romans 8:29, 11:2)

     2. God has predestined those whom He has chosen to receive salvation. (Acts 4:28; Romans 8:29-30; Ephesians 1:5, 11)

     3. God sovereignly calls sinners by opening their hearts through regeneration to believe the Gospel (John 6:44; Acts 16:14)

II. Implications for Evangelism in light of God's Sovereignty

     1. God's sovereignty teaches us to fully trust in His power to save sinners.

     2. God's sovereignty reminds us that we should have no fear in evangelism.

     3. God's sovereignty should encourage faithful evangelism, not serve as an excuse to neglect it.

III. Man's Responsibility in Evangelism

     1. Pray (Colossians 4:2-4)

     2. Pursue (Matthew 28:19; Luke 19:10; John 17:18; Acts)

     3. Proclaim (Acts 2:23-38; 2 Corinthians 5:14-21; Romans 10:13-15)
